Baker studied at Powder Springs, Georgia’s McEachern High School. As a senior, he caught 58 passes for 629 yards and 11 touchdowns; as a junior, he had 1,105 receiving yards and eight scores. He was chosen to participate in the All-American Bowl in 2020. Baker pledged to play collegiate football at the University of Alabama.
In 2020 and 2021, Baker was a student at Alabama. He has nine receptions for 116 yards and one touchdown over the course of two seasons and 21 games. Baker made an entry on the transfer portal following the 2021 season. Prior to transferring to the University of Central Florida (UCF), he had pledged to transfer to the University of Kentucky.[3][4][5] In 2022, Baker made 13 of 14 starts in his debut season at UCF. He finished with 56 receptions for 796 yards and five touchdowns. He was selected to the first team of the Big 12 as a senior in 2023 after hauling in 52 receptions for 1,139 yards and seven touchdowns.[6] Following the campaign, Baker declared for the 2024 NFL Draft.
