American football defensive end Nicholas John Bosa (born October 23, 1997) plays for the San Francisco 49ers of the National Football League (NFL). The 49ers picked him second overall in the 2019 NFL draft; he was an Ohio State Buckeyes college football player. Bosa led his club to Super Bowl IV and was voted NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year. He was the 2022 NFL Defensive Player of the Year winner. He is the younger brother of Joey Bosa, a linebacker for the Los Angeles Chargers, and the son of former NFL defensive end John Bosa.

Bosa was a four-year starter and a multiple-year first-team all-state player at St. Thomas Aquinas in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He was considered one of the finest players in his class and a five-star recruit.[1] He committed to play collegiate football at Ohio State University.

As a true freshman in 2016, Bosa saw action in all 13 games for Ohio State, registering five sacks and 29 tackles—seven of which were for a loss.[4] He started seven games as the Buckeyes’ starting defensive end during his sophomore season. Bosa’s 32 total stops (14.5 for a loss) and a team-high seven sacks earned him the titles of Smith-Brown Big Ten Defensive Lineman of the Year and unanimous first-team All-Big Ten Conference.[5] He also recorded a blocked kick, eight quarterback hurries, and two pass breakups.
It was revealed on September 20, 2018, that Bosa had undergone surgery on his core muscles, sidelining him indefinitely.

Most analysts and scouts predicted Bosa to be the top overall pick in the draft coming out of Ohio State.[9] As one of the top draft prospects, Bosa was invited to the NFL Scouting Combine. With the exception of the 10 and 20 yard split, he finished every combine drill and positioning drill that was required. At the combine, Bosa conducted interviews with eight NFL teams, including the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Arizona Cardinals, San Francisco 49ers, New York Jets, and New York Giants. Some chastised Bosa a week prior to the selection for his political views and contentious tweets, which included calling Colin Kaepernick a “clown,”.
