QB J.J. McCarthy of the University of Michigan is a busy man both on and off the field. The collegiate athlete and Katya Kuropas have been dating for over five years.
While attending Illinois high school, McCarthy and Kuropas fell in love. After becoming well-known at Nazareth Academy and being considered as one of the best quarterback recruits before his junior and senior years of high school, the football player committed to Michigan in May 2019.
McCarthy played behind starter quarterback Cade McNamara at Michigan after arriving ahead of schedule in 2021. McCarthy started ahead of McNamara in his second season in blue and maize.
He celebrated four years with Kuropas by his side a month later.
“My lovey, I can’t believe it’s been four years,” he posted on Instagram. “I feel like I’ve known you since the play pen, high school sweethearts. Blessed and incredibly appreciative of your kindness and sincerity. Forever together, no matter what life throws at you.
McCarthy’s on-field accomplishments carried over into the following year, up to December 31, 2022, when an unbeaten Michigan team fell to Texas Christian University in the College Football Playoffs. McCarthy and Michigan made it back to the College Football Playoffs the next year, defeating the University of Alabama on New Year’s Day in the Rose Bowl. On January 8, 2024, they triumphed over the University of Washington in the championship game.
McCarthy, the endearing young guy renowned for his wit and generosity, has started a new chapter in his life in a touching turn of events. McCarthy and his longtime partner, sweetheart, and confidante—the person who has supported him through good times and bad—have tied the knot today, marking a historic occasion.
