In its lengthy history, Michigan football has had great success. In addition to conference championships and bowl games, they now have a National Championship in their trophy case.

Nevertheless, despite having a prosperous past, Michigan has never defeated some opponents. Now, that is a different list from this one, which does not include the teams that Michigan has never faced. The Wolverines play against certain teams, although they have never triumphed over them.

However, there is one thing that all of these teams have in common. They have only ever hosted Michigan once in their lengthy existence. In addition, all but one of the teams defeated Michigan in postseason bowl games.

Based on their most recent matchup, the FBS teams that Michigan has never defeated are listed below in order.

Oklahoma football vs. Michigan football
Total score: 0–1.

Meeting #1: January 1, 1976
Past meeting: January 1, 1976
Oklahoma last score: 14-6.

It is absurd to assume that in the history of the programs, they have only ever met once, given how excellent both of these are. But these teams have only convened once, and the gathering dates back to the 1970s.

These teams, however, came to an agreement in 2024 to play each other again in 2025 and 2026. There’s a chance for Michigan to even the series and possibly even grab the lead.

When these teams played in the Orange Bowl in 1976, it was their first meeting. Oklahoma was ranked third, and Michigan was placed fifth. That season, the Wolverines finished 8-1-2 and second in the Big Ten Conference. The first Big Ten squad to compete in the Orange Bowl was the Michigan Wolverines.

It may not seem like a big deal that Michigan hasn’t defeated the Sooners just yet, but if Michigan can’t defeat Oklahoma in their next two encounters, it may be worth looking into.
