American football running back Nicholas Jamaal Chubb was born on December 27, 1995, and he plays for the National Football League (NFL) Cleveland Browns. In the second round of the 2018 NFL draft, the Browns selected him while he was still a collegiate player at Georgia. Chubb’s NFL career has included four selections to the Pro Bowl.
Chubb played track and football for the Bulldogs at Cedartown High School in Cedartown, Georgia, where he excelled in two different sports.[1] As a junior in football, he had 2,721 rushing yards and 38 touchdowns, which led the state of Georgia. He had 2,690 yards and 41 touchdowns as a senior. 102 running touchdowns and 6,983 rushing yards were his final high school totals.[2]
Chubb was a talented track and field athlete who participated in events ranging from the shot throw to the 100 meters from 2011 to 2015. With a leap of 6.85 meters (22 feet, 4 inches), he finished fifth in the long jump competition at the 2013 4A Sectionals.[3] He won the shot put competition at the 2014 4A Sectionals with a top-throw.
Chubb was rated as a four-star recruit by Scout.com and Rivals.com.[6][7] He committed to play collegiate football for Mark Richt’s University of Georgia in June 2013.
In the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game, Chubb made a comeback and helped the team defeat #22 North Carolina by rushing for 222 yards and two scores.[19] Chubb was utilized sparingly for the next five games after suffering a sprained ankle against Ole Miss following two lackluster performances in close wins. Georgia was 1-4 during that time, with Chubb’s 121 yards and two touchdowns (combined with Sony Michel’s 133 yards) leading to the one win versus South Carolina.[22] For the final four games of the regular season, Chubb and Michel shared carries. Despite this, Chubb had two games with 100+ yards, and he finished 2016 with 142 yards and a game-winning touchdown against TCU in the Liberty Bowl. He also moved up to second place all-time in school rush yards, passing former backfield partner Todd Gurley.[23] Chubb was also successful.
Although it was anticipated that Chubb will declare for the 2017 NFL draft, he chose to play his senior year with the Bulldogs in 2017. Despite splitting touches with Sony Michel in his senior year, Chubb still managed to rack up 1,345 yards on 223 carries (6.0 average) and 15 touchdowns.[25] With their help, Georgia finished 12-1 and won the SEC. Chubb had 145 yards on 14 attempts in a double-overtime victory over Oklahoma in the Rose Bowl during the College Football Playoff semifinal. His two touchdowns were a 50-yard rush shortly after halftime and a 2-yard run that tied the game in the final minute of regulation.[26] Prior to that season, Chubb had recorded three other performances of at least 125 yards and two touchdowns: against Samford, Vanderbilt, and Kentucky.[29]) During the national championship
