American professional baseball player Matthew James Chapman (born April 28, 1993) plays third base for the San Francisco Giants of Major League Baseball (MLB). He was formerly an MLB player for the Toronto Blue Jays and Oakland Athletics.

In2017, Chapman debuted in Major League Baseball with Oakland. Before the 2022 season, he was moved to the Blue Jays, then before the 2024 season, he signed a free agent contract with the Giants. Chapman, who is well-known for his defense, has received two Fielding Bible Awards, two Platinum Glove Awards, and four Gold Glove Awards. In addition, he was named an All-Star in 2019 and received the Wilson Defensive Player of the Year Award in 2018.

Chapman went at Lake Forest, California’s El Toro High School. As a senior in 2011, his hitting average was.422.[1] He played collegiate baseball for the Cal State Fullerton Titans after enrolling at California State University, Fullerton after being undrafted in the 2011 MLB draft out of high school. His junior year of 2014 saw him slug.312/.412/.498 in 54 games, including six home runs and 48 runs batted in (RBIs). Chapman was chosen by the Oakland Athletics in the first round of the 2014 MLB draft following the season.

Chapman began the 2017 campaign as a player with Nashville.[6] He was sidelined for two weeks during the season’s first series after breaking his wrist on a check swing.[7] He batted for Nashville in 49 games.257 with 30 RBIs and 16 home runs
