The recruiting class of 2025 can be considered as Alabama and the rest of college football look ahead to the 2024 season as the offseason progresses. In head coach Kalen DeBoer’s first full cycle, the Crimson Tide had a huge class.
Recently, four-star quarterback Keelon Russell switched from SMU to Alabama, while four-star cornerback Chuck McDonald also declared his intention to play for the Crimson Tide. The two newest members of the class to pledge were offensive lineman Mal Waldrep and Michael Carroll, who did so on Tuesday and Monday, respectively.
Here is how UA is doing as of Tuesday night in the rankings provided by the major recruiting agencies, as the recruiting cycle continues.
What is the current status of the class?
There are currently 14 commitments from Alabama in the class of 2025. That lags far behind universities like Syracuse and Rutgers, who both have 19 points, and Notre Dame, which has 21, according to ESPN.
As of right now, the Crimson Tide’s roster has one five-star recruit, at least per the 247Sports aggregate. That’s Darrell “Duke” Johnson, the class’s third-ranked linebacker, who will be attending UA after growing up in Dodge County, Georgia.
There are currently ten four-star prospects in Alabama’s class.
3rd in the 247Sports composite rankings
Alabama is ranked highest out of the three major services by 247Sports. Alabama was ranked third on the composite, which is based on reviews from other businesses, as of Monday.
Carroll’s dedication strengthened that standing. Prior to his announcement that he would be joining the Crimson Tide, UA’s class for 2025 was ranked fifth.
In the 247 composite, only Ohio State and Notre Dame are ranked higher than the Crimson Tide. With three five-star talents in their current class, the Buckeyes top all schools.
